Chicago Faucets is excited to introduce a 6-inch reach gooseneck spout (GN6) that meets the new Facilities Guidelines Institutes’ reach requirements for scrubbing and washing of hands in medical, patient, and surgical areas.

Hospital Areas Ideal for GN6

The FGI Guidelines 6-inch spout reach requirement has implications for various spaces within healthcare settings. Here are some key areas where the 6-inch spout reach requirement is recommended:

  1. Patient Care Areas: The requirement is particularly important in spaces where direct patient care is provided, such as patient rooms, examination rooms, and treatment areas.
  2. Surgical Areas: Operating rooms and perioperative spaces where thorough hand scrubbing is critical.
  3. Pharmacy Preparation Areas: Spaces where medications are prepared require adherence to strict hygiene standards.
  4. Sterile Procedure Rooms: Areas where sterile procedures are performed need to minimize the risk of contamination.
  5. Clinical Laboratories: While not explicitly mentioned in the search results, clinical and medical laboratories in hospitals likely fall under this guideline due to their need for proper hand hygiene and infection control.
  6. Food Preparation Areas: Hospital kitchens and food service areas may also benefit from this requirement to maintain hygiene standards.

HyTronic with 6-inch Gooseneck Spout for Healthcare

The HyTronic base and external mixer with GN6 is available with 1.50 GPM flow, and a choice of power options: Long Term Power Supply, Emergency Power Supply, AC, and DC.

When incorporated into the touchless HyTronic faucet base the GN6 enhances patient safety:

  1. Compliance with FGI Guidelines: The 6-inch spout reach meets the new Facility Guidelines Institute (FGI) requirement, A2.1-8.4.3.2 which recommends a spout reach of at least 6 inches (15.24 centimeters) for handwashing stations in healthcare settings.
  2. Improved Hand Hygiene: The extended reach accommodates the size of two adult hands, allowing for more thorough hand scrubbing and washing in critical medical areas like surgery.
  3. Reduced Splashing: The longer spout helps prevent water pooling at the sink backsplash and reduces the risk of splashing, which is crucial in areas where patient procedures are performed or medications are prepared.
  4. Touch-Free Operation: As a HyTronic faucet, it offers touchless activation through an infrared sensor with dual beam detection, eliminating a common touch point and reducing the risk of cross-contamination.
  5. Pathogen Reduction: The faucet is designed to limit the growth of waterborne pathogens, with features like an antimicrobial silver ion laminar flow outlet and copper tube inlets.
  6. Customizable Settings Made Easy: The faucet can be easily adjusted using the CF Connect app, allowing facility managers to set appropriate water run times for different purposes like scrubbing, metering, or handwashing.
  7. Hygiene Flush Mode: It includes an automatic conditions-based flushing feature of the CF Connect app to reduce water stagnation and ensure complete distribution of chemical treatments.
  8. Scald Protection: With a thermostatic mixing valve, it provides consistent, safe water temperatures to prevent scalding.

By incorporating these features, the HyTronic Faucet with a 6-inch spout significantly contributes to infection control efforts and overall patient safety in healthcare environments.

The GN6 also accommodates Chicago faucets 786 and 895 bases for manual faucets.
